About Northern Territory Library

The Northern Territory Library is the major public research library in the Northern Territory (NT). 

It has two main roles:

  • to comprehensively collect information documenting the history and culture of the NT, and to make this information accessible to the community
  • to support the development of the broader library sector across the NT.

The Northern Territory Library has a range of services including:

  • books, magazines and newspapers
  • 24/7 access to ebooks, online newspapers and other eresources
  • extensive collections of NT historical materials, including photographs, maps, individual and organisational archives
  • inquiry services to help with your research
  • school education programs
  • events and exhibitions.

The Library also operates a Parliamentary Library Service to serve members and staff of the Legislative Assembly, and community libraries at Nhulunbuy and Taminmin.
