Taminmin Community Library is a shared community and school library, which services the public of Litchfield Shire and the staff and students of Taminmin College.

School term: Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm

School holidays: Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 5.00pm

Saturday: 10.00am to 1.00pm

Membership is free and open to all Northern Territory (NT) residents.

You will need personal identification and proof of your permanent NT residential address.

Children under 18 need the signature and identification of a parent or guardian.

As part of the ConnectNT network, if you are a Taminmin Community Library member you can use your library card at any library in the NT.


Your membership lets you borrow up to 10 items at a time and gives you access to many other great programs and services.

You can borrow books, audiobooks, large print, magazines, videos, DVDs and music CDs for four weeks.

If you live remotely you can borrow for eight weeks - this includes any postage time.

There is an after hours return chute beside the front door to the library.

  • free wireless internet on your own laptop, iPad, notebook or other device
  • computers - free access in one hour blocks
  • newspapers
  • Litchfield local history collection
  • photocopy or print for 20 cents a page
  • free scan to email.

As a member you can access bestsellers free, across devices, online or on our Library app from Borrow Box.

Get free digital versions of magazines through Zinio.

Hundreds of popular digital magazines are available covering a range of subjects. These magazines are replicas of their print version.

Children's activities


Stories, songs and morning tea to encourages early learning in babies up to 18 months.

Monday 10.00am - for babies

Monday 11.00am - for crawlers and toddlers


Reading, songs and lots of fun for young children and families.

Tuesday and Thursday 10.30am - for one to four-year-old children

Senior's morning tea

Catch up with friends, listen to guest speakers, have a chat and take a book or two home.

Taminmin Community Library invites you to the library for morning tea on the second and fourth Friday of each month.

Litchfield local history

The Litchfield Collection is a local history collection from within and around the Litchfield Shire.

The collection covers Humpty Doo, Noonamah, Bees Creek, Shoal Bay, Gunn Point, Manton Dam, Darwin River Dam, Virginia and many others.

The collection reflects the colourful cultural history of Litchfield Shire.

Material in the collection includes books, journals, newspapers, pamphlets, posters, maps, cassettes, videotapes, oral histories, photographs, Aboriginal artifacts, reports, diaries, community information and ephemera.

The Litchfield Collection is available to anyone interested in NT history, including researchers, school students and visitors to the NT.

As material in the collection is of a valuable nature it may only be used in the library.

Donations to the Litchfield Collection

Contact the Library Manager to discuss items that you want to donate to the collection, or if you have photographs or documents that could be copied for the collection.
