Minister Moss Travels to Beijing for Meeting of Tourism Ministers

Minister for Tourism and Culture Lauren Moss, will visit Beijing on 26-28 August to take part in the national Tourism Minister’s Meeting to discuss issues of importance to the tourism industry and growth of Chinese tourism in Australia.

“The Territory Labor Government is investing in the infrastructure and experiences that will grow Chinese tourism in the NT and create local jobs,” Minister Moss said.

“I welcome the decision to hold the Tourism Ministers Meeting in Beijing as part of the Australia-China Year of Tourism. I look forward to working with my Australian counterparts to grow Chinese tourism.

The agenda includes a presentation from Chinese Tourism Australia, and I am also looking forward to meeting with the China Tourism Academy.

“Making the Northern Territory a China Ready Destination is a focus area of the Tourism Vision 2020, with a key target being to attract 30,000 annual visitors from Greater China to the NT by 2020, with an estimated expenditure of $46 million.”

Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Tourism and Culture, Andrew Hopper, will also attend the meetings.

The trip will take place between Saturday 26 August and Wednesday 30 August 2017.
