Remote sport program

The Department of Sport and Recreation's remote sport program increases participation in sport and active recreation across the Northern Territory (NT).

The program provides assistance to deliver sport and recreational activities to remote communities throughout the NT.

The grants are negotiated through regional councils and non-government organisations.

The remote sport program funding is based on the delivery of:

  • improved capacity for community members to conduct regular organised structured sport competition and recreational activities
  • sustained delivery of regular sport and active recreation activities
  • regular core sport competitions for the region that suit community needs
  • improve the capacity of community members to gain sport and recreation coaching, officiating and event management knowledge to deliver regular sport activities for the community.
